The world has certainly changed since 1989, hasn't it.
It’s hard to believe it’s been that long.
You might have experienced similar changes and seen evolution as we have. And, like with us, some things may be very similar as they were then.
You know what they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
If you've only known us the last few years you may not know Utility Survey Corp. started out 25 years ago this year, that year was 1989.
Back then this company opened its doors providing water leak detection services using the latest computerized leak noise correlation systems.
Utility Survey Corp. was one of the first and few companies using that technology.
We’re still using that technology today. It’s still a very valid tool in many contexts for the leak detection part of our business.
It’s interesting that with all the technological changes in the world the past 25 years, leak detection technology hasn't yet progressed beyond that original correlator, but Utility Survey Corp. has.
Had you known us back then, and then you fell asleep for 24 years like Rip Van Winkle, you probably wouldn't recognize Utility Survey Corp. today, though.
You've heard the phrase “necessity is the mother of invention!” Well, that has been the catalyst for the evolution of Utility Survey Corp. into the company you work with today.
But, it was that original leak detection service that was the “mother of invention” of what has become the 21st Century version of Utility Survey Corp.
Successful leak pinpointing required that we first had to locate the various water pipes. So we did a lot of that.
Then, someone had to come along to excavate and repair the leak without hitting any utilities.
That led us to develop the skills needed to locate all those assorted pipes and cables too. This means we became very proficient at utility locating.
In a very short amount of time there developed an increased awareness of the dangers hidden utilities pose and we found ourselves doing more utility locating than leak detection.
From there the service really took off for us and we haven’t looked back.
It gives all of us at Utility Survey Corp. a tremendous amount of satisfaction to know that after a quarter-century in business many of our first clients are still with us today.
In fact, we have a significant number of clients who have trusted us to be their utility locating and leak detection service provider for over 20 years.
In the coming issues of this blog, we will highlight some of those long term clients and how our work with them has evolved over the decades, and we’ll also provide some specific insights about how the way we've done business and served our clients has evolved as well.
